Here we are, in the 11th grade, and in this grade the army issue becomes relevant to us. We got the first order, and we are thinking about what we will do in the army. According to the law, the army recruitment is an obligation to all the citizens in our country, Israel. The boys have to serve three years in the military and the girls have to serve two years.
`
IDF is the army of Israel and it serves as the central organization in keeping the country's security. IDF is the force protection of the Israeli existence and independence. In addition, the army serves national missions, like the settlement in all of the State's areas through the Nahal, pre-training through the Gadna military, rescue missions and more.
.
Every soldier gets a medical profile whereby the solider knows where he will serve. People, who get a low profile (profile 21) or diagnosed a lacking match for military service, are exempt from military service. The highest profile is 97. For minorities, except for Druses and Circassians the recruitment is voluntary.
.
In addition, women are eligible for exemption from army service for reasons of religious recognition. Although the recruitment is obligatory, in practice a significant percentage of teenagers do not enlist due to various reasons. Also, there are youngsters that refuse to serve in the military, for political and conscience reasons.
.
I am nearly 16, so I have enough time to decide what I want to do in the army. It seems to me that if we have a chance to help our country, we should do it. After all, we live in a small country and we have to be responsible, because no one else will do it for us.
